The District Administration & District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) Longleng will be celebrating National Day of the Girl Child on January 24 at DPDB Hall, DC Complex Longleng. In this regard, it has informed that its members to attend the program positively.
According to DIPR, it further sought the participation of five girl students from every school under Longleng town along with the Teacher in charge. The Prize distribution for Father- Daughter Photography competition and Winners of Marathon Race competition will be held on that day.
Marathon race held
In commemoration of National Day of the Girl Child, District Administration and District Hub for Empowerment of Woman (DHEW), Longleng organized a marathon race on January 22 on the theme “ I Came, I Ran, I Finished.” Observing Beti Bachao Beti Padhao week long campaign in view of National Day of the Girl Child at Longleng.

SDO (C) and Nodal Officer BBBP Longleng Meyazungba Jamir, in his short address said in Nagaland, women and girls are outperforming men when it comes to education. “Women will eventually dominate the state when it comes to education because knowledge is power, and education will overcome any shortcomings”, said Jamir. Referring to the motto Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, which translates to “Save the Girl Child and Elevate the Girl Child in Every Aspect,”Jamir stressed on the need for introspection and contemplation. “ Let’s start with the smallest unit: the family. It is the responsibility of a family to provide possibilities for their girl child and to educate her about her rights, as understanding one’s rights is crucial. Man needs to support women, and it is our responsibility to ensure that their rights are protected in addition to providing for their education,” stated Jamir.
Deputy commissioner Longleng Dharam Raj, IAS, flagged off the race.
Earlier Shingyom, Deaconess Longleng Town Baptist Church pronounced the invocation. The race started at NST junction till Lempong junction and return back to NST junction. Eimei Angloi C, from shauli ward bagged the first while Yunglei. L from PPC ward and C. Chunggoi from Bahonk ward came second and third respectively.
