In a bid to promote environmentally conscious and clean festivities, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, Alongdhimen Jamir, NCS, has officially informed all concerned citizens under Longleng jurisdiction about the initiation of the “Swachh Diwali Shubh Diwali” campaign by the Longleng Town Council. The campaign is set to continue until 12th November 2023.
According to DIPR, The initiative encourages citizens of Longleng Town to celebrate Diwali, a festival of cultural significance, in harmony with the principles of Swachh Bharat by fostering clean and eco-friendly practices.
All residents are urged to actively participate in advocating the following:
– Emphasizing the importance of categorizing waste at its origin to facilitate proper disposal and recycling.
– Encouraging practices that turn waste into valuable resources, aligning with sustainable waste management.
– Pledging to minimize the use of single-use plastics to reduce environmental impact. Ensuring that Diwali celebrations are conducted in a manner that minimizes pollution and its adverse effects.
Additionally, citizens have been reminded of the standing ban on firecrackers within the jurisdiction of the Urban Local Body (ULB). The enforcement of this ban is crucial for maintaining a pollution-free environment.
