Longleng: 60 trainees receive training in plumbing, fitting and masonry

Participants were trained in the field of plumbing, fitting and masonry.

A community-level Skill Development Training programme under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) support activity was held at VCC & VDB conference hall Longleng on 8 October.

The programme was organized by PHED Longleng Division.

SDO (Civil) Longleng, Trongdipa Tongpi Sangtam, acknowledged the PHED Department Longleng for organizing the training and exhorted the participants stating that skill development training is an opportunity to enhance skills and become self-reliant while contributing to the economy at large.

He also said JJM is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water to all households in rural areas.

Sangtam encouraged the trainees to be sincere and take up this kind of activity which will provide sustainable income.

In the keynote address, District Chemist Sumachiba Walling said the training programme was aimed at imparting skills to the villagers for routine maintenance of drinking water distribution assets. This would ensure the sustainability of water supply infrastructures, he said.

The programme was followed by a practical session where the participants were trained in the field of plumbing, fitting and masonry.

Certificates were also handed over to the participants by Er Nothongol Kera, EE, PHED Longleng.

Altogether 60 trainees from 15 villages attended the training programme.

The programme was chaired by District Coordinator PHED, Longleng, Dauom Phom, while the vote of thanks was pronounced by S D H/A, T Aham Phom.
