The Longsa Village Council has submitted a written representation to the Deputy Commissioner of
Mokokchung requesting strict monitoring of heavy vehicular traffic crossing the Dikhu Bailey Bridge on
NH-202 (Mokokchung-Tuensang Road).
The Council expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the bridge, which they said was constructed in the 1960s by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) with an 8-ton capacity.
Citing that the bridge has reached a dilapidated state and is beyond human repair, the Council warned of a potential collapse if precautionary measures are not taken.
Stating that the bridge serves as an economic lifeline connecting Mokokchung with other districts, the
Council urged the district administration to deploy police personnel to monitor and regulate the weight of vehicles crossing the bridge.
