The Lotha Eloe Hoho held a felicitation ceremony for women elected representatives to the Wokha Town Council (WTC) at the Lotha Hoho Conference Hall today. The event was graced by Dr Apeni Kithan, Retired Director for Higher Education for the Government of Nagaland, as the special guest.
Dr Kithan congratulated the elected women representatives, encouraging them to be pillars of development and to envision ideas for the town’s progress. She emphasised that Wokha Town represents the image of Wokha and the Lotha community, further acknowledging the government’s efforts in providing opportunities for women in governance and urged the elected women to fulfil their duties responsibly.
Furthermore, she suggested that the traditional view of women as homemakers should be rephrased to “town makers”.
Motivational speaker Rosanna Kikon (PhD), Associate Professor at Mt Tiyi College Wokha, called for positive debates and the sharing of ideas during the representatives’ leadership. She encouraged active participation in decision-making.
