Lotha Eloe Hoho highlights appropriate usage of traditional attires for women at event

Wokha: Workshop provides opportunity for Lotha women to learn about and appreciate their rich cultural heritage

The Lotha Eloe Hoho organised an event on Friday to create awareness and promote the significance of traditional attire among the younger generation. The One-Day Workshop on Usage of Traditional Attires for Women was held at Lotha Hoho Conference Hall, Wokha.

Deputy Commissioner, Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan, IAS on his addresses lauded the Lotha Eloe Hoho for organising such programmes to keep the traditions alive amongst the younger generation and urged everyone not to forget but preserve the past practices while striving for modernity. He also encouraged using traditions handlooms, artefacts, and attires efficiently as there are numerous scopes to sustaining livelihood.

Special guest of the programme Loyibeni Kithan, speaking at the workshop, appealed to all women folks to extend co-operation to Lotha Eloe Hoho towards this initiative in preserving and promoting Lotha women traditional attires. She urged them know the significance of all the different attires and use them appropriately to preserve community’s identity.

Theme Speaker, Ex Convenor Lotha Eloe Hoho, Abeni E T Ezung underscored the need to practice learning the Lotha dialect as language identifies a person. She stated that most the youngsters of the present generation are not well aware of their own dialect hence she urged parents to teach the children to speak proper Lotha language.

District Cultural Officer Zuthungo Yanthan in his short speech asserted, “Our tradition is our Identity”. He regretted that many people were forgetting and losing interest of their own culture, traditions and attire and stressed on its importance.

During the programme, Mhalo T.M. Lotha reads out the regulation on the usage of Lotha women traditional attires.

Limomo Jami (Lotha Hoho Representative) also delivered short speech during the programme.

The programme was Chaired by Jenny Kikon, welcome address as delivered by Thungbeni Ngullie, President Lotha Eloe Hoho while vote of thanks was presented by R Thungbeni Ezung.

The workshop, organized by the Lotha Eloe Hoho, provided an opportunity for Lotha women to learn about and appreciate their rich cultural heritage through the proper usage of traditional attires. It emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Lotha women’s traditional attires to ensure the continuity of their unique identity.
