The Lotha Hoho, in a memorandum, has reaffirmed its resolution not to participate in any activities related to the Nagaland Special Development Zone (NSDZ).
The Hoho had earlier resolved that the Lotha Naga Tribe occupying the ancestral land within Wokha District will not participate in the Nagaland Special Development Zone (NSDZ) programme. “The Resolution having been conveyed to the Nagaland state govt through the Chief Secretary to the govt of Nagaland, vide NO.LH/WKA/GEN-NSDZ/2015 dated the 9th October 2017. Hence the NSDZ matter is already a closed chapter for the Wokha district,” stated the Hoho.
It has, therefore, directed and informed all concerned that no Lotha organisation or individual will participate in any NSDZ related meeting of the Nagaland State government.
“It has also come to the knowledge of the Lotha Hoho that the Nagaland State govt had directed the department of Land Records and Survey to carry out a detailed survey and mapping of the western Wokha district Foothill area. It is therefore directed to all Lotha organisations, including Village authorities, not to allow any NSDZ related survey or other activity within their respective jurisdiction. Any NSDZ related activity to be prevented by taking appropriate action by the concerned Local organisation and village authority,” stated the memorandum issued by Chairman Mhondamo Ovung and General Secretary Tsupon Murry.
The memorandum has further notified that anyone attempting to initiate any NSDZ related activity within Wokha district will be doing so at their own risk. The Hoho or any other unit Lotha organisation will not be responsible for any consequence that may arise in the course of taking preventive action, asserted the Memorandum.

The memorandum comes following the meeting on NSDZ held in Bhandari on November 11, where the CSOs leaders, village council chairmen and GBs attended the meeting.
A meeting minute circular issued by the ADC Bhandari mentioned that the meeting delved on some key points on NSDZ.
“The members present strongly objected to the meeting and hence no further discussion could be held. The members present were of the strong view that they could not be part of any NSDZ meetings. The meeting attendance could not be obtained upon the refusal by the people present,” stated the copy.
