Lotha Hoho supports WVYO’s initiative on NH 2 road works in Wokha Village

Wokha: LH appeals all from community and district to cooperate with WVYO

The Lotha Hoho has affirmed its support to Wokha Village Youth Organisation (WVYO) and its initiative to see to it that the road construction of National Highway 2 (Formerly NH 61) from the stretch of 72.40 km to 83 Km in Wokha Village is done justly and accurately.

The apex Lotha organisation stated that WVYO’s initiative is for the ‘common good of the Lotha Tribe, in particular and the people of Wokha district, in general’ and appealed all from the community and the district to cooperate with the body.

LH also appealed to government authorities, land owners, contractor and all concern ‘to expeditiously deliver the due justice with regard to Land-Acquisition, conformation to Technical Specifications, proper workmanship etc.’ It further stated that it will be compelled to also take sides with WVYO for taking appropriate course of action in the event of failure to deliver justice.

The WVYO has pointed out that it found discrepancies in 106 locations on the NH 2 (Formerly NH 61) from the stretch of 72.40 km to 83 Km in its jurisdiction following a joint inspection conducted by its Joint Action Committee, the District Administration, concerned department, and Contractor (ITC Infra India) on 20 May 2023. The inconsistencies included road encroachments, non-utilisation of compensated land, open drains, poor workmanship, etc.

The Wokha Village youths, on 23 May, gave the district administration 20 days to remove all encroachments from the right of way (ROW).
