The Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) and All Sümi Students’ Union (ASSU) have both urged the law enforcing authorities to award befitting punishment to those involved in the destruction of the Naga Club building in Kohima on early Saturday. The heritage building houses the central offices of the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), All Nagaland College Students’ Union (ANCSU) and Kohima Press Club (KPC).

Condemning the ‘unpatriotic act of Anti Naga Element’, LSU expressed dismay and stated that it is a threat to the students community in particular and the Naga people in general.

AASU said the action of the ‘miscreants cannot be justified to any of their advantages’. It stressed on the power of dialogue to resolve any conflict but at the same time stated that such ‘desires of chaos and conflict mongering ideology should be banished at any cost.’

Meanwhile NSF has given the Nagaland government till 6:00 pm on Sunday night to arrest the individuals responsible for the crime.

A five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional Superintendent of Police has been constituted to investigate the matter.
