Driven by a deep passion for flowers, Athungbeni Odyuo Yanthan, the founder of Lum_emi.thera (Lumbum emi thera), which translates to “A Flower of Solace” in the Lotha Naga dialect, has created a floral business that brings peace, comfort, and joy to all who experience it.
According to Athungbeni, flowers have an incredible power to express feelings that words sometimes cannot. “When words are not enough to speak the language of your soul, flower bundles have the power to express your true desire the best,” she said. Whether it’s love, gratitude, inspiration, appreciation, admiration, or comfort, Athungbeni’s carefully crafted floral arrangements speak volumes for any occasion.
Her journey began last year on Mother’s Day, inspired by the love and care her mother gave to her garden. Growing up, Athungbeni watched as her mother lovingly nurtured her flowers. The connection her mother had with the flowers and the peace they brought her deeply inspired Athungbeni, turning her own love for flowers into a heartfelt passion. “Flower is a gift of God to us,” she stated, expressing how flowers are a source of solace for her heart.

The support from her late husband was crucial to the success of Lum_emi.thera. He constantly encouraged her to pursue her passion, especially as the business began receiving positive responses from clients. Athungbeni also expressed her deep gratitude for the unwavering support from her family and friends.
“Making a profit is not the matter; bringing peace and happiness to the clients is what matters the most,” she shared.
Her vision for the business is grounded in her mother’s love for flowers. Athungbeni believes that if her floral creations can help someone who is struggling, then even a small gesture of gifting flowers can bring light to their day. This inspiration is at the core of every bouquet she creates. Her offerings include a variety of flowers such as fresh flowers, solawood flowers, dried flowers, and candles, with most of the fresh flowers grown at home. For flowers or materials not available locally, she orders them to meet the needs of her customers.
In the future, Athungbeni hopes to expand her offerings further, expressing interest in starting a line of small accessories and incorporating her love for painting into her creations. But for now, the focus remains on using flowers to bring hope, peace, courage, and comfort to those who need it most.
