Longmatra Area Public Organisation (LAPO) hosted the Luthsinyi Festival at Longmatra Village on March 1 at Longmatra Village Public ground.
The event was graced by Intsangju NSS, SO Police Establishment Branch, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, as the Special Guest.
The Luthsinyi Festival is a significant celebration for the Sanphu-speaking dialect people of Longmatra Area, under the United Sangtam Naga Tribe.
This year’s event marked the revival of the forgotten celebrations of their forefathers and among the many festivals (which had existed before but no longer exist today). Luthsinyi Festival is one of the biggest festival where seeks blessings from God before clearing the fields for jhum cultivation and before sowing seeds in the fields.
The Special Guest emphasized the importance of preserving one’s cultural identity and roots, which paves the way for fostering peace among the community.
The celebration was chaired by Tethsomong and Tsosingthsi with the inaugural program dedicated by Sangtamba Pastor, LVBL and a welcome note delivered by Daniel President LAPO. Aperü Mülong Longmatra Town presented a special number.

Notable dignitaries, including Tsangkhuchu Assistant Director(Rtd), SJ Levi Keor, Asst. Director Higher Education Kohima, Tsolenthsi, President ST Longmatra Lihyung, Irothe, President LASU, Throngethe, President LAGBU also shared their thoughts and Insights during the festival. The festival concluded with a vote of thanks by Tsoiju VP LAPO and a valedictory prayer by Throngpen Pastor, Sangtsoze Baptist Lithro.
The event witnessed diverse cultural performances- folk dance by Longmatra Village; Phen Tyen Khua by Tsongphong Village; Khue Rahbe (Traditional game using Entada Rheedii) by Tethuyo Village; Malakbe (Traditional Fire Making) demonstrated by Pongren Village; Sangloh Kühbe (Traditional Arrow shooting) was demonstrated by Ngoromi Village.
