The NSCN-K (Yung Aung) has accused Maj. Gen. Totemong is just a habitual defector who has no real significance within the party. In a clarification to the reports of some cadres led by Maj. Gen. Totemong joining the Ang Mai faction, the MIP, Yung Aung group, said “the Angmai group is a fitting ground for pseudo nationalist like Maj. Gen. Totemong”.

It mentioned that the Totemong had defected from the NNC in 2013 and has since disconnected himself from the daily affairs of the party.

The YA group also claimed that the Ang Mai group is “on the hunting spree for corrupt businessmen and misguided individuals in order to counter the Naga national struggle” and succeeded in recruiting opportunists like Y Khomong, Mankhat and Chin Maung who all are failures in their respective fields.

Further, the YA faction maintained that the group in the Khiammiungan region “is perfectly safe and strong under the current regional authority”. The region members led by its Region Chairman and Region Guard Commander pledge to continue upholding the Naga national sovereignty under the dynamic leadership of President Yung Aug no matter what, it added.

The YA group also criticized Ang Mai for using “every opportunity to discredit President Yung Aung with false and baseless allegations” and stated that his group will not contribute anything good for the betterment of Nagas rather than loot the public in the name of development.

“Presently the Angmai group and their proxies are conniving with the military junta to jeopardize the Naga areas,” it alleged and that any “misstep by these groups will not be overlooked they will be held responsible for any blunder and shame brought to the Eastern Naga people.”
