Major General Manish Kumar, Sena Medal (Bar) assumed the command of the Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) on Friday. He took over the charge from previous IGAR, Major General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM.
Maj Gen Manish Kumar was commissioned into the Jammu & Kashmir Rifles in December 1992. He has commanded an Infantry Battalion in Rajasthan and Assam and subsequently, an Assam Rifles Sector in Nagaland.
He is a post graduate from Defence Services Staff College, Wellington and also attended the Higher Command Course in Army War College Mhow.
The General Officer has immense operational experience having served extensively in Jammu & Kashmir and the North East.

A highly decorated Officer, Maj Gen Manish Kumar has been awarded with two Sena Medals, one Chief of Army Staff Commendation and four GOC-in-C Commendation Cards for his distinguished service to the nation.
