The Botsa Village Council (BVC) and all its frontal organisations have condemned an alleged attempted rape and murder by one Khrietuolie Kense from Tsiemekhu Basa village on the evening of July 16.
In a statement, the BVC said on the fateful evening, while returning from her field, a mother of four children and a bonafide citizen of Botsa village was waylaid by Kense with the intention of rape and murder. On reaching a secluded area, the alleged accused said to have pounced on her, pinned her to the ground and threatened her at knifepoint to keep quiet. In a sheer display of courage, the victim fought her attacker, and in the process was grievously injured by the knife, BVC stated.
The woman screamed for help, alerting people nearby and upon seeing the people approaching, the accused stated to have fled the scene. BVC said after the victim narrated the incident, the village youth promptly launched a manhunt and caught the attacker hiding in the jungle.

The council also categorically stated that under no circumstances should the case be circumvented and bail be granted to the accused. In the event of such situation, the BVC warned it will not hesitate to take any course of action.
