In a concerning incident on Wednesday evening, a vehicular collision occurred on the Tongdentsuyong ward of the national highway, Mokokchung. The incident involved a Maruti 800 car colliding with a parked Bolero Pick-up, resulting in a significant twist in the tale.
Officer in-charge of Police Station 1, Mokokchung reported that the incident took place on 20th September 2023 at approximately 6:20 PM. Upon receiving information about the accident, personnel from PS-1 Mokokchung swiftly rushed to the scene.
The Officer informed that upon arrival, the police discovered that a Maruti car bearing registration number NL 02 C-3295, driven by a 31-year-old individual named Imliakum from Sungratsü village hit one parked Bolero pick-up from behind. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the involved parties.
However, the police found that the driver was intoxicated, having consumed alcohol. In suspect, the police conducted a search and during this search, approximately 0.20 grams of suspected Brown Sugar were recovered from the Maruti Car’s tool box.

The police informed that the accused, Imliakum, admitted to having consumed some amount of the drug before. In response to these discoveries, the police took immediate action. Accordingly, Suo Motto First Information Report (FIR) was lodged by the police, and a case has been registered with PS-I Mokokchung under case number 0021/23 dated September 21, 2023.
The case has been registered under multiple sections, including Section 279 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rash driving or riding on a public way, Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act (MV Act) pertaining to drunk driving, and Section 27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act), as the suspected drugs were discovered in the vehicle for further investigation,
