A disturbing case of domestic violence took a tragic turn in Dimapur as a man allegedly murdered his wife during an alcohol-fueled altercation in the early hours of June 13 at Rengma Colony, Dimapur.

Sources informed that the man, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, struck his wife multiple times on the head with a dao (a traditional bladed weapon) during a heated confrontation. The brutal attack resulted in her death on the spot.

Upon receiving information from local residents, police swiftly arrived at the scene and took the accused into custody. He has since been remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation.

While the identities of the victim and accused have not been officially disclosed, authorities have confirmed that the case is being investigated as a homicide driven by alcohol-induced violence.

A post-mortem was carried out at the District Hospital, Dimapur.
