Mandatory registration for NPOs on NGO Darpan portal, DC Kohima informs

The office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, has issued a notification for strict compliance by all concerned organizations. In pursuance of the Office Memorandum issued by the Planning & Transformation Department and in accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering (Maintenance of Records) Amendment Rules, 2023, all Non-Profit Organisations (NPOs) seeking grants from Ministries/Departments of the Government of India and State Government, opening and operating bank accounts, registering/renewing their Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) status, or seeking exemption under Section 80-G of the Income Tax Act must register and obtain a Unique Identity Number from the NGO Darpan Portal, maintained by NITI Aayog. Ministries and departments of the Central Government have made the Darpan ID mandatory to reduce fraud.

Therefore, all NPOs and Societies registered under the Societies Registration (Nagaland Third Amendment) Act, 2008, are hereby directed to mandatorily register and obtain a Unique ID from the NGO Darpan Portal to prevent backlisting and cancellation of registration for non-compliance.
