Condemning ongoing ethnic violence among Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur, NSCN IM today alleged that Naga minor tribes of Manipur had come under attack by perpetrators.

In a press note issued by its MIP, the NSCN IM said “Meitei brothers and Kukis should not take them otherwise and harass them in any manner” while pointing out that Naga minor tribes including the “Aimol, Chiru, Chothe, Kharam, Koireng and Kom are part of Naga community and have been actively involved in the Nagas’ political struggle for their freedom from India and Myanmar till our goal is achieved.”

Citing an incident, the group expressed regret over one Kom village- Kangathei village which had come under attack by the ‘Kuki militants.’

“The villagers forced to vacate their Kangathei village,” it said.

The NSCN IM further expressed concern over attack against the place of human inhabitants (villages); burning down of places of worship (Churches) and maintained that “all these acts of violence are violation of human rights that are applicable to all members of human society.”

The group said. “such vicious violence will only aggravate the situation” while calling to “put to stop forthwith for the sake of humanity and peaceful coexistence.”
