Amid the opposition from various organisations and churches against the nationwide cleanliness drive on 1st October which happens to be a Sunday, the Home Department, Government of Nagaland has issued an Office Memorandum stating that the drive in the State will now be conducted on 30th September 2023 (Saturday) at 10 am, instead of the designated date.
The Home Department stated that the massive cleanliness drive announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as part of Swachhata Pakhwada – Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2023 would be led by the people across the country as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
According to DIPR, the department has designated respective Deputy Commissioners as the nodal officers for planning, taking measures as necessary, and coordinating with all the ULB Administrators for the urban areas, and all the BDOs for the rural areas, and district officers of other departments/agencies as may be required, for ensuring successful execution of all the activities in regard to the cleanliness drive in the districts of Nagaland in line with the instructions from the Government of India.
At the State Level the nodal officer for overall coordination of the entire cleanliness drive will be the Commissioner, Nagaland.
