Massive soil erosion due to incessant rainfall in Zunheboto

Zunheboto: More landslides expected to occur; a cause of serious concern, says DC Zunheboto

Massive soil erosion occurred in Alahuto colony, Zunheboto town due to incessant rainfall. The newly elected member of ZTC from the concerned colony, Vikheshe Aye, said that, officials from District Administration and NSDMA, Zunheboto took stock of the ground situation and precautionary evacuation was advised, informed DIPR.

Rahul Bhanudas Mali (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, has informed that the District Administration has provided emergency relief funds to the thirteen affected households in which, three houses were demolished for safety measures. Looking at the magnitude of the eroding soil, major landslide is anticipated which could be of serious concern, DC added.

Damage of properties, materials, disconnections of electricity and telephone poles/lines were reported.
