MDCA conducts Open Trials; NCA makes spot verification of Mokokchung practice pitch

Mokokchung: Sukhalu affirms NCA’s keen interest in supporting and encouraging cricket at local level

The Mokokchung District Cricket Association successfully conducted Open Trials for U-16 Boys and Women’s (All Categories) on the 2nd August 2023 which was then followed by a special spot verification of its Practice Pitch carried out by the Vice President of Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA), Herato Sukhalu on 3rd August.

MDCA General Secretary, Rimachang Aier informed in a press release that the Open Trials, held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, was attended by aspiring players from Mokokchung and also from neighboring district Longleng. 23 players (9 Boys & 14 Women) from Mokokchung and 3 players (1 Boy & 2 Women) from Longleng took part in the trials.

MDCA mentioned that under the abled guidance and experienced leadership of Coach Neehal Ahmad, the trials encompassed rigorous drills and assessments, focusing on batting, bowling, fielding, and wicket-keeping skills. The trials were designed to identify potential cricketing stars who could represent our District in regional and national tournaments, it added.

Further, the association stated that the spot verification of its Practice Pitch carried out by the VP of NCA on Thursday was “an affirmation of the club’s commitment to promoting cricket at the grassroots level and nurturing young talents.” MDCA mentioned that during his visit, Sukhalu engaged in insightful discussions with the officials of district cricket association and commended its efforts in nurturing young talents and promoting the spirit of cricket in Mokokchung. He also expressed his satisfaction on the upkeep and maintenance of the facility.

Mentioning that the VP affirmed NCA’s keen interest in supporting and encouraging cricket at the local level, MDCA expressed its gratitude to NCA for the constant support “which has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of Cricket in Mokokchung.”
