The Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) has issued a press release notifying all football stakeholders under its jurisdiction—including clubs, academies, players, and referees—of recent directives issued by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) concerning unauthorised football tournaments.
The notification follows resolutions adopted by the AIFF Executive Committee during its meeting held on June 6, 2024, in Kolkata. The AIFF raised concerns over the increasing number of unregistered football tournaments taking place across the country, which it stated undermine the development, structure, and safety of Indian football.
To address these concerns, the AIFF has implemented several key measures, including a complete ban on the participation of AIFF-registered players, coaches, and referees in tournaments not approved by
State Associations or their affiliated district units. Disciplinary action will be taken against any registered individual who violates this directive.

The directive also mandates that any organisation or private body intending to host a football tournament must first seek permission from the respective district or state football association.
Tournaments must meet specific conditions: only registered clubs or academies may participate, players must be officially registered, only AIFF-licensed referees are permitted to officiate, and the organizers must ensure the safety and protection of all involved.
MDFA, in response, has urged all stakeholders in Mokokchung district to strictly follow the AIFF’s guidelines. The association emphasised the importance of compliance to uphold the credibility of tournaments, safeguard players, and promote the structured growth of football in the district.
