In an intriguing set of the last Quarter-Final matches of the MDFA Trophy 2023 played today at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Super Seniors FC and KSR Team secured their spots in the Semi-Finals.
In the third Quarter-Final match, Konyak Students Union Mokokchung (KSUM) and Super Seniors FC competed fiercely for a spot in the Semi-Finals. Konyak Students Union Mokokchung had been an outstanding team, not losing a game throughout the tournament, while Super Seniors, consisting of players aged 30 and above, had been enduring their journey in the tournament, both winning and losing some games. Both teams played with great enthusiasm to secure a spot in the Semi-Finals. Chuba Imchen (J/No.17) of Super Seniors found the net for his team in the 19th minute. No goals were scored before halftime from KSUM, and remained with 1-0 score in favor of Super Seniors until the 75th minute when Kapzei (J/No. 29) of KSUM scored a goal through a penalty kick, equalizing the score at 1-1 until full time and extra time.

In the penalty shootout, Super Seniors scored the maximum number of goals without missing, kicked by Chuba Imchen (J/No.17), Bendangsunep (J/No.9), Bendangmongba (J/No.2), and Temjenmeren (J/No. 7), while KSUM missed two goals, kicked by Angki (J/No.6) and Pulei Nahpoh (J/No.12), and with only two goals scored by Kapzei.T (C) (J/No.29) and W. Khango (J/No.5), they exited the tournament with a final score of 2-4 in favor of Super Seniors.
In the fourth and final Quarter-Final match in the MDFA Trophy 2023, KSR Team and Soyim Sports Society (SSS) played with great determination. S. Ayenmongba (J/No.12) of KSR opened the scoring in the 5th minute, with Yhoto Lohe (J/No.11) adding another goal in the 28th minute, resulting in a 2-0 scoreline at halftime. SSS attempted to score but couldn’t break through the KSR defense, and Lamsanggin Hangsing (J/No.17) scored the third goal for the KSR Team in the 90+2 minute, sealing their place in the Semi-Finals.
Tomorrow, the first Semi-Final match will be played between Moanungsang MSC and Super Seniors FC at 1 PM, with Col. Rahul Gurung, Kirti Chakra, Commandant of the 12 Assam Rifles, serving as the Match Patron. On November 1, the Second Semi-Final of the MDFA Trophy 2023 will be contested between Telongjem FC and KSR Team.
