The 7th edition of the Master Shield Trophy, organised by Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation (MDT20CF), got underway at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung on 13 March.
Defending champions Trebuchet and debutants Dynamic Sports Active registered their first wins on the first day.
In the first match of the day between defending champions Trebuchet and All Starz 11, the latter won the toss and elected to bowl first.
In the first inning, Chambo, Menchet, and Redish of Trebuchet managed to score 47, 39 and 28 runs each, helping the team to maintain a score of 175 for 7 wickets in 20 overs.
Imtiwabong and Sentiakum from All Starz managed to get 3 and 2 wickets each.
In the second innings, All Starz 11 were sidelined to give competition to the defending champions as they were all out in 16.4 overs with just 37 runs.

Supong of All Starz managed to make some noticeable contributions with 11 runs as the team struggled against some tight bowling from Trebuchet.
Trebuchet’s Imnayanger, Sentiwapang and Redish took 2 wickets each. Trebuchet’s Redish was awarded the man of the match.
The second match of the day was played between Dynamic Sports Active (DSA) and Team KPEDEN, where the former won the toss and opted to bat first.
Against KPEDEN, DSA managed 159/6 in their stipulated 20 overs with contributions of 58 and 41 runs from Andrew and Rahul Kumar, while Team KPEDEN’s Ponthungo, Chonben and Renchio secured 2 wickets each.
In the second innings, Team KPEDEN’s Khyothungo’s contribution of 46 runs failed to attain success as their side was all out scoring just 95 in their allotted 17.3 overs, while DSAs Andrew, Bhargav and Dipankar gave heavy blows as they took 2 wickets each, ending the match with DSA winning by 64 runs.
Andrew was awarded the man of the match title.
