Naga player Mecievi Khieya has made his official debut for Thonburi United FC in the Thai League 3, informed a press release by Patrick Brixner, SC Nagaland Thonburi United Project Coordinator on September 16.

Mecievi, a young talent from Kohima, Nagaland, came during the second half of the game between Thonburi United and Assumption United to secure a 4-1 away victory for his side.

He is the very first player from Nagaland to represent a professional club abroad in one of the major national leagues. Mecievi was selected in February during a trial event called Nagaland’s Next Top Player in Kohima, organized by Thonburi United FC and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports Nagaland, in collaboration with SC Nagaland and Nagaland FA.
