The Medemer Fund Society launched its Mental Health Awareness Campaign, themed ‘Eritque Arcus’ (And there will be a rainbow), starting on 22nd July 2024. The campaign aims to raise awareness and break the silence surrounding mental health, with Phase 1 featuring a video contest open to all, offering a cash prize of Rs.10,000.
As part of Phase 2, the Society is conducting visits to schools and colleges across the region, engaging students and staff in discussions led by mental health professionals. On a recent visit to Whito School, Kohima, the Medemer Fund Society collaborated with Young Minds NE to bring the campaign to the students.
The session at Whito School featured Daewon, Counselling and Sports Psychologist, as the resource person. He emphasized the importance of mental health awareness within educational settings and provided valuable insights on addressing mental health challenges among adolescents. The session, which drew over 80 students, explored the rising mental health crises within this age group, with Daewon outlining both the causes and practical strategies for managing these issues.
Interactive activities were incorporated to engage students, reinforcing key messages about mental well-being and encouraging a deeper understanding of the subject.
The program commenced with an introductory session led by Anen Longchar, Founder and CEO of Medemer Fund Society, who highlighted the importance of mental health, likening its care to physical health. Longchar encouraged students to participate actively and feel free to ask questions throughout the session.
The Medemer Fund Society, along with Young Minds NE, is informs of plans to expand its efforts to reach more schools and communities in the coming months.
