Meeting held to discuss implementation of PM-VISHWAKARMA Scheme in Kiphire

A meeting to discuss the implementation of the PM-VISHWAKARMA Scheme in Kiphire was convened on July 10 at the DPDB Hall, Office Chamber of the Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire.

The mee’I’g was chaired by the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, DIC-PMVK, and attended by members of the District Implementation Committee, Block Development Officers (BDOs), and other stakeholders.

The meeting aimed to address the challenges faced in implementing the scheme and sought suggestions from attendees. Deputy Commissioner emphasize the importance of inter-departmental coordination and laid out the status report of the scheme,’highlighting the obstacles in the implementation path.

The EAC (HQ) briefed the meeting on the current status of the scheme, while the General Manager, District Industries Centre, stressed the need for inter-departmental coordination to make the scheme a success.

The meeting decided on the following action points:

– All efforts would be made to onboard the remaining 62 villages out of the total 103 (recognized) villages in the district with Village code and subsequently their approval by the Ministry. (Action: DIC-HAND)

– The BDOs will take the responsibility of creating more general awareness about the scheme, with the help of the Village Councils and Village Development Boards, and ensuring to scale up the number of applications. (Action: BDOs)

– The CSCs will get in direct contact with the BDOs/VCs/VDBs to facilitate in the enrolment. (Action: CSCs and BDOs)

– The CSCs and the BDOs will be given the responsibility of authenticating the genuineness of beneficiaries and their eligibility for the rural areas. (Action: CSCs and BDOs)

  • For the urban areas, the respective Town Councils (KTC/STC/PTC) will take the responsibility of authenticating the beneficiaries match with their eligibility criteria. (Action: Town Councils)
  • Once the rural/urban level authentication of beneficiaries is done, the applications will be forwarded to the District level Implementation Committee for PM-Vishwakarma for the second-tier of verification.

The meeting also deliberated on the training phase of the program, discussing the means of transportation, the nature of trades of artisan/craftsmanship training provided, and the accommodation of the trainees. It was decided that the matter of accommodation and trans-mobility of training equipments as well as training sites would be taken up with the higher authority, keeping in mind the concerns of mobility/transportation of the selected trainees from far-flung villages to the HQ.

The meeting concluded with the Deputy Commissioner and Chairman, DIC-PMVK, encouraging all attendees to work hand-in-hand and coordinate to make the scheme a success. The meeting ended with a commitment to address challenges and ensure the successful implementation of the PM-VISHWAKARMA Scheme in the district.
