Megh Kachari community celebrates Aai Sagi Mini Hornbill Tribal Festival 2025 in Dimapur

Dimapur: Festival showcases unique identity and cultural richness of Mech Kachari community

The Aai Sagi Mini Hornbill Tribal Festival 2025, organized by the Mech Kachari Public Organisation (MKPON), culminated with three-day cultural extravaganza at the Kachari Community Playground in Kushiabill Darogajan Village, Dimapur. The event showcased the rich heritage and traditions of the Mech Kachari community under the aegis of the Department of Tourism, Nagaland and the Kachari Tribal Council, Nagaland.

A press release from the MKPON informed that the final day was graced by Dhananjay Basumatari, Retd. Chief Engineer, Department of Power, Nagaland, as the Special Guest. The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Pranjue Mech, President, MKYFN, and featured a captivating cultural display by the cultural troupe of Naharbari and Kushiabill. The festival also included a short speech by Sukhonlal Langthasa, Vice-President, KTCN, who shared insights on the significance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage.

The afternoon session followed, concluding the Aai Sagi Mini Hornbill Tribal Festival 2025 on a high note with prize distribution of the Aai Sagi Sports Meet 2025. The festival served as a platform to showcase the unique identity and cultural richness of the Mech Kachari community, fostering a sense of pride and unity among the community members. The festival concluded with words of gratitude presented by Devopotin Mech, President, MKSUN.
