The Nagaland Cabinet has reportedly granted districthood to Meluri.

The land of the Pochury tribe is a sub-division under Phek district and is located on the border of India and Myanmar. Meluri will be the 17th district of Nagaland.

The Pochury people have been asking for districthood for several years.
