Mezhür Hr Sec School Kohima wins both Boys’ and Girls’ Inter-High School Basketball Tournament

Kohima: Akatolu Phesao (girls) and Vitsosier (boys) from Mezhür HSS get MVPs

Mezhür Higher Secondary School Kohima emerged as the champions in both the boys’ and girls’ categories of the Inter-High School Basketball Tournament for Kohima District which was held at St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School in Lerie, Kohima.

In the girls’ final held on Friday, the Mezhür Higher Secondary School team triumphed over Don Bosco HSS with a score of 14-7, securing first place.

The boys’ final featured a closely contested match between Mezhür HSS and Fernwood HSS, where Mezhür HSS emerged victorious by just one point, winning 25-24.

The closing ceremony of the three-day Inter-High School Basketball Tournament for Kohima district was graced by Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, Kumar Ramnikant and Director of Youth Resource and Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose graced the closing ceremony.

The winners received ₹30,000 each along with trophies and citations and the runners up received ₹20,000 each.

Most Valuable Players were awarded to Akatolu Phesao (girls) and Vitsosier (boys) from Mezhür HSS.

Most Promising Teams went to Fernwood HSS and PM Shri GMS, D Khel.

Best Disciplined Teams were awarded to Nagaland Police Central School (boys) and St Mary’s Cathedral Higher Seconday School (girls).

The tournament was organized by the Kohima District Basketball Association (KDBA) in collaboration with Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and co-sponsored by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports and The Birds and Bees Talk.
