In celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, MGM College organized a three-day Cleanliness Drive from October 2 to 4. The initiative, led by the NSS, Eco Club, and Health and Sanitation Committee, honored Mahatma Gandhi’s values of cleanliness and sustainable living, while encouraging a cleaner and greener environment in and around the college.
The drive, conducted under the theme Swachhata Hi Seva, saw active participation from 70 volunteers. Over the three days, they cleaned the college campus, Nikos Hospital, and Midland areas, collecting an estimated 130 kgs of garbage. This large-scale effort was lauded by the college administration and local community. Speaking on the event, a representative from the organizing committee emphasized, “This initiative was a small step in contributing towards Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of cleanliness. The dedication of our volunteers shows how committed our students are to making a lasting impact.”
In addition to the cleanliness efforts, students planted flowers to beautify the campus and installed dustbins in strategic locations to ensure long-term waste management. These activities were aimed at reinforcing the importance of cleanliness and sustainability among students and the local community.
