The Department of Education, MGM College, Dimapur organized an educational trip to Kaziranga National Park on February 1, 2025, offering students a rare opportunity to engage in experiential learning beyond the confines of a classroom. A press release from the College said that the trip aimed to deepen students’ understanding of biodiversity, wildlife conservation, and cultural heritage, fostering a sense of responsibility towards nature.
During the trio to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the students experienced the safari where they encountered elephants, tigers, swamp deer, and a variety of migratory birds, gaining first-hand exposure to the park’s thriving ecosystem.
The MGM College also said that its students explored the Kaziranga National Park Museum, where they delved into the history, ecology, and conservation efforts of this globally significant wildlife sanctuary. This visit provided a scientific perspective on ecological balance and sustainability, it added.
The itinerary also included a visit to the Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park, a haven for 500+ species of orchids and a diverse range of medicinal plants.
A major highlight of the trip was an immersive cultural experience featuring a traditional Assamese folk show, including the vibrant Bihu dance. The College stated that this exposure to Assam’s rich artistic heritage helped students develop a deeper appreciation for indigenous traditions, music, and storytelling, reinforcing the importance of preserving India’s diverse cultural legacy.
MGM College asserted that the excursion proved to be a transformative experience, merging environmental education with cultural enrichment, through with the students developed a broader perspective on sustainability and heritage preservation.
