The Department of Sociology and Education of MGM College successfully organized a collaborative debate competition on August 30 on the thought-provoking theme, “AI in education will replace the Traditional Education System.”
The event brought together faculty members, students, and the principal in an intellectually charged atmosphere that promoted critical thinking, communication, and presentation skills.
The program began with an inspiring welcome address by Miss Sentikala, Head of the Department of Education, who emphasized the importance of debates in shaping academic growth and holistic development. The session was moderated by Dr Yadap Tamang, Assistant Professor, Department of Education, who introduced the judges and briefed the participants on the rules of the competition.
The debate was marked by dynamic exchanges of ideas, with participants presenting persuasive arguments both in support of and against the motion. Thoughtful reasoning, sharp rebuttals, and confident presentations made the session highly engaging and impactful. After a stimulating round of discussions, the motion side was declared the winner.

Shena was awarded the title of Best Debater for her outstanding performance and clarity of thought.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Elithung Kikon, Head of the Department of Sociology, who acknowledged the judges, participants, and attendees for their valuable contributions. He also extended gratitude to the Principal, faculty members, and organizing committee for their unwavering support and encouragement.
