MGM College Students’ Council election held

The Students’ Council Election for the Academic Session 2026–27 was successfully conducted at MGM College under the supervision of the Election Commission, ensuring a free, fair, and transparent electoral process. The election process commenced with the issuance of the official Election Notification on February 25.

Following the notification, nomination papers were made available to interested candidates for various posts in the Students’ Council. Aspiring candidates submitted their nomination papers within the stipulated time on March 2. The scrutiny of nomination papers was carried out by the Election Commission on March 3.

After careful verification and examination of the submitted documents, the list of validly nominated candidates was published on the same day. During the scrutiny process, some nominations were rejected due to incomplete documentation and failure to meet the prescribed eligibility criteria. After the scrutiny process and the last date for withdrawal of nominations on March 3, it was observed that each post had received only one valid nomination.

In accordance with the election rules and regulations, the Election Commission declared the candidates elected unopposed to their respective posts. The official declaration of the election results was made on March 6 by the Election Commissioner.

The elected office bearers are Nahong Wangnao—president; Sungjemyala Aonok–general secretary; Tokupu Chishi– Assistant general secretary; Liditsung–games and sports secretary; Tokito Chophy–Assistant games and sports secretary; Peshie Lemthem–literary and cultural secretary; Piwoto V Aye– ANCSU Representative; Shanjothung L Yanthan–Asst. ANCSU representative; Angel Tamang–women co-ordinator while post of finance and media and information secretary is vacant.
