MH-10 Red the champions of the 3rd Dr Imkongliba Ao Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy

Dimapur: MH-10 Red defeated Changtongya Volleyball Association with a score line of 14-25, 16-25, 17-25

The two-day tournament of the 3rd All Nagaland Dr Imkongliba Ao Memorial Open Volleyball Trophy concluded on 25 November at State Stadium, Dimapur with MH-10 Red emerging as the champions.

MH-10 Red defeated Changtongya Volleyball Association with a score line of 14-25, 16-25, 17-25.

Moatoshi Longkumer, MLA, graced the closing ceremony as the special guest.

During his speech, Longkumer lamented that with too much focus on money in present times, the art of giving and of hard work was getting lost. He emboldened the gathering to bring about the “brotherhood” that has been lost.

“We must adopt change, we just organise our lives and adapt ourselves to the new changing environment,” he added.

He appealed to the participating team managers to recruit young talents and to bring them up in the particular sport. He also appealed to all the participants and the spectators not to lose sight of the love and kindness that they have been sharing for so many years and encouraged them to keep up the spirit of love and kindness.

The champions of the tournament, MH-10 Red, received a cash prize of Rs 1,50,000 while the runners-up, Changtongya Volleyball Association, received Rs 80,000. Third-place winners, Elite Spikers, who won against Spartan Club Lakhini, received Rs 40,000.

Prizes for individual achievement were also awarded during the closing ceremony.

Tongpangsunep of MH-10 Red was awarded Best Setter and Rishitemjen of MH-10 Red the Best Spiker. Imliakum of Changtongya Volleyball Association won the award for Player of the Tournament.
