MHA officials told Eastern Nagaland Legislators there is no final draft on FNT: Sources

The twenty Eastern Nagaland Legislators who are camping in New Delhi since 15 March 2024 met AK Mishra, Advisor (North East) and Joint Director, Intelligent Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs at Nagaland house on 18th March, which was followed by another meeting with AK Mishra, Union Home Secretary, IB Director, IB Joint Director and Additional Secretary Home.

Sources informed that the Legislators were made to understand that there is no final draft on Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) but it is only a working paper and there is still a lot of homework to be done. The source said the working paper needs to be studied thoroughly and opinions need to be taken from all the stakeholders before drafting the final paper.

“There is still room for omission and addition,” the source added.

The source also informed that the MHA did not give any time frame for completion of the final draft.

It is learnt that Eastern Nagaland Legislators Union (ENLU) has officially written to Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization sharing the outcome of the meeting and have requested ENPO to suspend the agitation.

ENLU have also sought appointment with the Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
