The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has constituted an Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT), led by the Executive Director, National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) to assess damages caused by rainfall and floods in Gujarat. IMCT will shortly visit the flood affected districts of the State.

MHA stated that during 25-30 August 2024, Gujarat was severely affected by heavy to extremely heavy rainfall due to a deep depression formed over Rajasthan and Gujarat.

Over 35 people have reportedly been killed by the flood while around 30,000 people have been displaced across the State. As the water begins receding in many areas, cleaning, repairing works and spraying of insecticides are ongoing.

The Ministry said that IMCT will also be deputed to the States of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan which were also affected by heavy to very heavy rainfall, and the State of Himachal Pradesh which has also been affected by various spells of heavy rainfall, cloudbursts and landslides, if the severe damages are reported by them.
