The Zunheboto District Golden Jubilee celebration program was graced by G. Kaito Aye, Minister for Road & Bridges as the Chief Guest and K. Tokugha Sukhalu, MLA and Advisor for Food & Civil Supply (F&CS), Legal Metrology on Monday in Zunheboto. On the occasion, G. Kaito Aye unveiled the jubilee monolith for which Dr Hutton Sümi, Pastor, Sumi Baptist Church Zunheboto sought the dedicatory blessings.
In his address, the Minister recalled how under former chief minister Hokishe Sema, Nagaland’s districts multiplied from four to seven. He expressed his gratitude to the pioneers of Zunheboto District and their families and said that Nagas were seeing bright days because of the pioneers.
Kaito Aye called upon the citizens of Zunheboto District to focus on agriculture and not depend only on the rice provided by the government and announced to award the best harvesters. Kaito urged the gathering to not be greedy for compensations and give the government the required allotments if they wish for Zunheboto to grow.

Advisor K. Tokugha Sukhalu, in his speech, lauded the pioneers of Zunheboto District who had vision for the people and discussed the matter with the then government and then the Zunheboto District came into being. He mentioned that the ground they were having the function earlier was the punishment ground for the villagers during the insurgency period where all the villagers came and dug the ground as punishment.
Sukhalu said that as the representatives of Zunheboto he said that the ten sumi MLAs including the representative from Dimapur want to ensure the development of Zunheboto in the matters of infrastructure, education and health care but added that they need the co-operation of the citizens of Zunheboto.
He appealed the citizens to be open minded and not be selfish. Sukhalu said that they want to make Zunheboto a model District but to do that they need the cooperation from all the citizens.

Earlier, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto, Moakamuzuk Tsudir led the dedicatory prayer program, invocation was pronounced by Rev. Inakhu Chishi, Pastor, Zunheboto Town Sumi Baptist Church, while the welcome speech and introduction was delivered by Kakugha Rotokha, Co-Convenor of Jubilee Planning Board.
Rahul Bhanudas Mali, DC Zunheboto gave a brief note on the establishment of Zunheboto District. A special song was presented by Jubilee Choir and vote of thanks proposed by Athtong SDO Civil Zunheboto.
The Jubilee also witnessed various cultural presentations such as Sumi Folk Dance (Men) presented by Aghunato, war dance presented by Pughoboto, Ghile Qhesho presented by Atoizu,
Thishele presented by Akuluto, Oh Oh Le presented by Suruhoto, Folk Dance Women presented by Satakha and Ighu presented by Zunheboto.
