Minister Kruse inaugurates new link road to boost Mezoma’s connectivity

Salhoutuonuo Kruse, Minister for Women Resource Development & Horticulture, today inaugurated a newly constructed link road connecting Mezoma village to key destinations, including Dimapur, Kohima, Khonoma, and Sechü-Zubza.

The project, spearheaded by the Thepfüsasie Kehie Kikramia peer group of Mezoma village, was initiated under the leadership of Thepfüsasie Kehie Kikramia, demonstrating community-driven efforts to enhance rural connectivity.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Kruse lauded the peer group for their vision, teamwork, and dedication, stating that the improved road infrastructure would benefit not only Mezoma but also stimulate tourism and economic growth in the Western Angami region.

Drawing inspiration from successful models like Switzerland and Khonoma, the Minister encouraged villagers to preserve their cultural heritage, emphasizing its potential to attract tourists.

She also underscored the state’s progress in infrastructure development under Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio’s leadership, mentioning key projects such as:

  • The PMGSY road from Khonoma to Peducha
  • The ongoing Dzüdza–Khonoma road construction
  • The newly built International Standard Indoor Stadium at Sechü-Zubza
  • The upgradation of Sechü-Zubza Primary Health Centre to a Community Health Centre

The inauguration ceremony, held at Kehiekiju in Mezoma village, saw the participation of community leaders, residents, and well-wishers.

The event was chaired by Neisiesa Chüsi, with Kikra Krüü Rokokedo Kehie delivering the welcome address. Kevingukho Sirie spoke on the significance of the occasion, followed by a prayer by Rev. Visakuolie Chüsi. The MPYO enthralled the audience with a folk song, while Zhasau Sirie concluded the program with a vote of thanks.
