Minister for Women Resource Development and Horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse emphasised on the importance of knowing one’s root, culture and traditions while speaking at the 8th Mezo Basa Day cum laying of foundation stone for community hall at Mezoma Basa on August 19.
Mezo Basa village is located in Sechü Zubza circle of Kohima, 8km away from sub-district headquarter Sechü-Zubza (Tehsildar office) and 15 km away from district headquarter Kohima.
Understanding our past and roots helps us to discover our identity, said Kruse adding that it is important to respect our traditional attires.

Meanwhile, the Minister thanked the people of Mezoma village for their help and support enabling her victory in the election.
She further sought their support and cooperation to ensure that development comes to the region through collective efforts.
Laying the foundation stone for the community hall, Kruse assured all possible help.
Giving a brief history of the village, Rovigwelhou Chüsi informed that the village was officially recognised by the state government in 2009.
Inaugurated in 2011, Chüsi said currently, the village had 127 households. However, the village still lack basic amenities, he informed.
Earlier, Mezo Basa Youth and Mezoma Youth Organisation presented folk songs.
