The Department of Health & Family Welfare team led by Minister for the Department, P. Paiwang Konyak, conducted an inspection at the District Hospital, Dimapur on 19th November 2024.
Addressing a press conference after the inspection, the Minister highlighted that the inspection is being conducted under the directives of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. The exercise is carried out starting from Dimapur district followed by Mokokchung, Longleng, Tuensang and Mon for the first phase and the exercise will continue with 2nd phase and third phase until the entire district is completed, he said.
He mentioned that the purpose of visiting the districts is to see that infrastructure development and amenities are satisfactory and wherever there is improvement required, the Department will make sure that new infrastructure is put in place. He also announced that decision has been made to construct a patient lodge as well as canteen to cater to the needs of attendees of patients.
Minister Konyak said that the visit to District Hospital, Dimapur, was satisfied that there is sufficient place and will be coming up with the staff quarters and will be arranged in such a way that the four grade staff quarters are constructed and there will be enough space for other developments too. He also assured to address shortage of doctors.
Further, Konyak requested the Department and Administration to conduct regular meetings and discussion to tackle land encroachment issue which is a frequent case in all districts. He also suggested that frequent meetings be held so that there should be no gap between the health, doctors and administration. He reminded that the State Government has taken a strong note on NPA issues (Non Practicing Allowance) and hoped that most doctors are following the government decisions.
The Minister stated that the team has taken note of the requests made by the Medical Superintendent of DH Dimapur and assured that it will be looked into it at the earliest.
Dr. Kheshika Yepthomi, Deputy Director National Health Mission, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, H&FW officials and staff accompanied the Minister during the inspection.
