Mizoram Clinch NECDC U23 Women’s Interstate Tournament 2026 Title

In a closely contested final, Mizoram held their nerve to defeat Nagaland by 7 runs and lift the NECDC U23 Women’s Interstate Tournament 2026 title. Despite a spirited performance from Nagaland, Mizoram’s disciplined bowling in a low-scoring encounter proved decisive.

Batting first after Nagaland opted to field, Mizoram posted 75 all out in 20 overs in a tightly fought innings.

Vanlalruatpull top-scored with 16 off 21 balls, anchoring the innings in challenging conditions where runs were hard to come by.

Nagaland’s bowlers delivered an impressive performance to restrict Mizoram to a modest total. Sariba Khan (2/4 in 4 overs) and Vipeni Awomi (2/10 in 4 overs) led a disciplined bowling effort, maintaining pressure throughout and ensuring the target remained within reach.

Chasing 76 for victory, Nagaland fought hard but were bowled out for 68 in 17.5 overs, falling just short in a tense finish.

Najmeen played a crucial knock of 25 off 32 balls, while Vipeni Awomi contributed 13 off 15, keeping Nagaland in contention during the chase.

However, Mizoram’s bowling attack held firm under pressure. Hmangaihsangi Syhlo delivered a match-winning spell of 4/15 in 4 overs, dismantling the batting lineup at key moments and earning her the Player of the Match award.
