Mizoram’s NGO-Coordination Committee requests PM Modi through Governor to resolve Manipur issue

Aizawl: Mizoram providing shelter to over 12,000 refugees from the troubled state

Mizoram’s NGO Co-ordination Committee leaders called on Governor Dr Hari Babu Kambhampati at Raj Bhavan, Aizawl on Tuesday afternoon. They submitted a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi – Prayer for the Restoration of Peace and Harmony in Manipur. A copy of the NGO-Coordination Letter was sent to the Union Home Minister and also to the Union Home Secretary.

The NGO Coordination Committee of Mizoram (NGOCC) in their letter urged the Prime Minister to restore peace, security and normalcy in the neighbouring state of Manipur. NGOCC (Mizoram) letter depicted that more than 12,000 refugees from the troubled state are being sheltered in Mizoram. The letter also stressed the critical issues that must be resolved urgently and required immediate attention.

NGO Co-ordination Committee were represented by the signatories in the letter to the   Prime Minister – Pu R. Lalngheta, President, Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA), Pu Lalnunmawia Pautu, President, Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Pu Samuel Zoramthanpuia, President, Mizo Students’ Union (MSU), Pu Nghaklianmawia, President, Mizoram Upa Pawl (MUP) and Pi Ngurmawii Sailo, President, Mizo Hmeichhe Insuihkhawm Pawl (MHIP). Prof Lanuntluanga, General Secretary, CYMA was also present as the spokesperson for the committee.
