Member of Legislative Assembly Achumbemo Kikon, on Monday, reaffirmed his commitment to serve the people of his constituency, Bhandari under Wokha district. During the Bhandari Sub-Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) meeting, the MLA also said that special focus will be given to education, health and road sectors.
According to DIPR, Kikon further expressed that his intention to give extra attention to the identified aspirational area that comprises of around 17 villages with great economic potentials and manpower resources. In this regard, he urged the officers and departments to tie up with the Village Councils for efficient coordination to bring in growth and developmental initiatives to benefit the villages of the area.
The Bhadari SDPDB was held at ADC’s conference hall under the chairmanship of Kikon, MLA and Chairman of Bhandari SDPDB. At the meeting, the house resolved to adopt Yanmhon Village area as ‘SDPDB Aspirational Area’, under the current financial year.
The House discussed on the recognition of Mitchü Yan under EAC Champang whereby Secretary, Core Committee for Mitchü Yan Village formation, informed that recognition of the said village has been a long-felt need as it was actually established in the year 1974 and that all the required credentials have been submitted to Home Department. It resolved that, while it supported the process of recognition of the village, acquiring and obtaining NOC and clearance should be done to pursue the matter for further necessary action.
The house further deliberated on the need of a helipad at Bhandari and resolved to bring the matter forward to the Transport Department and Civil Aviation for earnest action.
Discussing on financial schemes and policies of the government for educated unemployed youth, the house emphasised that awareness should be created to motivate and encourage the educated and unemployed youth of Bhandari to come forward to avail the opportunity. The MLA urged the lead bank manager, Wokha to ensure that beneficiaries selection process be done as per Government’s guidelines and through proper system. It also stated that allocation of beneficiaries to Bhandari should be in tune with the size and population of the sub-division.
It further emphasised on the need to restore the now defunct, SBI branch at Champang for the convenient of the people of the area. With regard to power connection within the foothill areas to Longayim and Mekirang village, the house advised that the villages would have to carry out basic and necessary steps before the concerned department put the work into execution.
During the meeting, Additional Deputy Commissioner Bhandari, Longdiba L. Sangtam and other officers newly posted to the sub-division were welcomed to the Bhandari SDPDB.
