Taking the vision of “A Feasible and economically viable Agriculture by 2030″ of the Department of Agriculture in the State of Nagaland, three prime projects were inaugurated by MLA Dr. Sukhato A. Sema at Ighanumi under Pughoboto Sub-division on June 6th 2024 in the presence of ADC Pughoboto, Tiameren Chang and other officials, DIPR has informed. These projects include the agri-link road, RKVY power tiller path to Ghu River and waiting shed.
MLA Dr. Sukhato A Sema, in his address, urged the farmers to mobilise effectively under Mission Organic Value Chain Development (MOVCD) through cluster farming to promote self-sufficiency and food export from Ighanumi. He urged the community to develop a sense of ownership with respect to all government departments and facilities and further encouraged them to stay united and cooperate for the progress and development of all.
Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Kitoho Michael Swu, in his speech, highlighted the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) program which was launched in the year 2007-08, under which comes RKVY power tiller path as an important component to facilitate accessibility of agriculture mechanization, transportation and other agricultural activities and agri produce from the fields. He encouraged the farmers to work hard and ensure food security of the village thereby contributing to the vision goal of the department.
ADC Tiameren Chang, in his speech, encouraged the farmers to preserve organic seeds and organic/traditional agricultural practices. He urged the public to take advantage of dynamic and efficient officers and leaders in the district for their welfare and betterment. Chang also appreciated the community’s effective leadership at the village level for maintaining peaceful relations with neighbouring villages.
The programme was attended by officials including SDPO Hankiumong; SDO (C), R. Daniel Angami; FM Sub-DIC Hekato K Jimo; SDHO Ronlo Rengma and Sumi Aphuyemi Kukami Hoho (SAKH) President Qhutovi Tenna.
The agri-link road was donated by Dr. Sukhato A. Sema while the power tiller path to Ghu River constructed under RKVY 2023-24 was funded by the Department of Agriculture and the waiting shed was constructed under LADPF 2023-24.
