MLA & Chairman DPDB Mon, Y Mankhao Konyak, who had earlier adopted the present dumping site of Mon Town for legacy waste remediation efforts under SBMU-2.0 visited the site on January 6 along with the Administrator and staff of Mon Town Council to oversee and monitor the on-going work under the DRAP (Dumpsite Remediation Accelerator Programme).

During the visiting, he expressed satisfaction with the on-going work and urged the officials of Mon Town Council to complete the remediation of the dumpsite with the timeline set by MoHUA. He also expressed his gratitude to the Department of Municipal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, for allotting two new vehicles during 2024-2025 to Mon Town Council to increase door to door collection of garages. Further, he pleaded upon the public of Mon Town to practice waste segregation at home and to minimise use of plastics and other harmful materials so that the quantity of waste coming to the dumpsite is reduced and also to prevent fresh waste from entering the dumpsite.
