Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to buy made in India products this wedding season which is estimated to be worth around 5 lakh crore. In the 107th Episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ aired on Sunday, Modi also appealed citizens to organize weddings within India and not abroad as is the fashion among the elite.
“Is this at all necessary?” he asked while stating that when weddings are conducted within the country, the money remains inside the country and it creates employment and memories for even the poor people.
PM Modi announced that soon after his call of ‘Vocal for Local’, business worth more than Rs 4 lakh crore was made on Diwali, BhaiyaDooj and Chhath. Tremendous enthusiasm was seen among the people in buying products Made in India, he said, adding that ‘Vocal for Local’ is opening the doors to a ‘Developed India – Prosperous India’.
He highlighted that this campaign strengthens the economy of the entire country, he said. “Vocal for Local” is a guarantee of employment and opportunities in both urban and rural areas and also paves the way for Value Addition in local products. If ever, there are ups and downs in the global economy, the mantra of “Vocal for Local” also protects our economy, PM Modi stated.
