Thsuvisie Phoji, the Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer of Mokokchung, emphasized the pivotal role of youth as agents of change in society during the celebration of Youth Voters Festival 2023 at the Town Hall in Mokokchung on Saturday, DIPR informed. The festival was held under the theme ‘Empowering Young and Future Voters.’
Addressing the gathering, the DC and DEO underscored the importance of youth in preventing and addressing corruption, as well as in fostering peaceful co-existence within society. He praised the ability of young people to learn and adapt to their surroundings, emphasizing that they are eager to learn and achieve their goals.
Phoji highlighted that the responsibility for social reforms and the betterment of society lies in the hands of the youth. In a democratic country like India, progress and change cannot be realized without active youth participation and contribution, he added.
Furthermore, Phoji encouraged the young participants to make wise choices, particularly when exercising their right to vote, as their actions and participation will shape the future of the nation.
The event featured an awareness presentation by Renben Mozhui, Assistant Election Officer, Mokokchung, and an emphasis on the importance of Mission Shakti, a comprehensive scheme launched by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in India, aimed at ensuring the safety and empowerment of women across the country, presented by Moamenla, District Mission Coordinator.
Entertainment and informative elements included a short play by the Demstify Institute for Montessori & Nursery Teachers Training, Mokokchung, special songs performed by Yimkumla (Jubilee College) and Supongsangla Jamir (PwD Icon), and closing remarks delivered by Chumlamo Humtsoe, Addl. Deputy Commissioner & SVEEP Nodal Officer, Mokokchung.
