The Mokokchung Athletics Association (MAA) has announced that the Mokokchung District Junior Athletics Meet 2025 will be held on August 30 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
The meet is being organized under the aegis of the Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA) and will feature competitions for both boys and girls in three age categories — Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18.
In a release, the MAA informed that the event aims to identify and select top-performing athletes from Mokokchung district to represent the it at the 2nd Nagaland Junior Athletics Championship 2025, tentatively scheduled for September.
For the Under-14 category, the competition will be conducted in triathlon formats comprising
combinations such as 60m sprint, long jump, high jump (scissor), back throw (1kg shot put), and 600m run, with participants allowed to choose any one triathlon set out of the three.
The Under-16 and Under-18 categories will feature individual track and field events, including sprints ranging from 60m to 1000m, long jump, high jump (scissor technique), and shot put with weight specifications according to age and gender.

The organisers said age verification will be based on Aadhaar, with eligibility defined as follows: U-14 boys and girls (born between 25/09/2011 – 24/09/2013), U-16 boys and girls (born between 25/09/2009 – 24/09/2011), and U-18 boys and girls (born between 25/09/2007 – 24/09/2009). U-16 and U-18 athletes may participate in only two events each, while U-14 athletes are permitted to compete in a single triathlon set.
Registration for the meet is open until August 29, with a nominal entry fee of Rs.100 per athlete. Additionally, the MAA informed that travel allowance will be provided to athletes selected for the state championship, although food and accommodation will not be included.
The MAA has extended invitation to all eligible athletes in the district to take part in the meet and has urged schools, institutions, and sports enthusiasts to encourage youngsters to participate.
