Mokokchung: Fire outbreak prompts closure of MMC Shopping Complex for safety concerns

Mokokchung: Further updates after completion of structural evaluation, ADC says

In response to the recent fire outbreak at the MMC Shopping Complex in Mokokchung, Nagaland, the Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) has issued a notice regarding the closure of certain sections of the complex. The notice, dated 4th February 2024, highlighted the paramount concern for the safety of both shopkeepers and customers in the aftermath of the incident.

As per the directive, the RG block, footwear section, and 1st floor shops numbered 17 to 42 within the MMC Shopping Complex will remain closed until a comprehensive technical assessment of the building’s structural integrity is conducted. The closure aims to prevent potential hazards and ensure the well-being of individuals associated with the complex.

The notice, issued by ADC & Administrator Chumlamo Humtsoe, emphasized the importance of strict compliance from all parties involved. Further updates regarding the status of the affected areas will be communicated subsequent to the completion of the structural evaluation, it informed.
